Cadence is a 16 hand Friesian/Warmblood cross stallion bred by Nikki Lugli and Leoness Sport Horses. We were very excited to purchase this stallion from Nikki in 2007 - We've been watching him grow up over the years, and have always thought he was a very special horse!
Cadence's sire is Doktor, one of the Proud Meadows "Forward Moving Friesians" and his dam is Decopauge, an American Warmblood mare by Art Deco. For more detail on his bloodlines, click on the thumbnail photo of his AWS registration papers at right. Cadence is approved for breeding by the American Warmblood Society and is also registered and approved for breeding with Friesian Heritage Horse and Friesian Sport Horse Registries.
In 2008, Cadence made his debut in dressage at 3rd level, and proved to be a talented competitor. In his first season at 3rd level, and only his 2nd season showing, he earned a USDF Bronze medal for his amateur rider. In 2009, he debuted at Prix St Georges ridden by Heidi Chote of First Chance Farm, and scored 61% and 65% at his first show! The judge was quite impressed with his power and ability to sit and collect. He shows a strong talent for piaffe, passage, and pirouettes, and has the power and thrust for stunning extended gaits as well. He is consistently scoring mid-60s at PSG by Summer 2009, and got a 69% from Sonja Vracko in August 2009. To view video of Cadence's PSG ride in August 2009, click here.
Cadence has excellent semen, with strong, progressive motility, and ships quite well. He tends to throw powerful hindquarters, a gentle mind, and improves on bone and feet. His offspring have been about 50% pinto colored, with most of the rest solid blacks, although he is not homozygous for black. He has a wonderful hind end with excellent angles and power, a strong loin and elegant topline, and is short coupled with a strong back and good loin connection. His legs and feet are excellent, with outstanding bone. He was barefoot until 2008!
Cadence truly combines the best of both the Baroque Friesian and the Warmblood. The Baroque horses are famous for their ability to collect, and for their people oriented personalities and intelligence. What better combination of breeds could you imagine for a dressage horse than the ancient Baroque breeds combined with the modern athletic Warmbloods?
His 2010 stud fee is $1,000, which includes the first collection and booking fees, and carries a live foal guarantee. Contact us for his breeding contract.
